GOOGLE – creative developer and Technical consultant

 

From July 2013 to October 2018, I worked on creative teams at Google to maximize the sales push for Google Ads formats to advertisers.

 

During my time there, I worked on formats ranging from Gmail ads, display banners, lightbox campaigns and YouTube formats, especially mastheads and video advertising. We worked closely with product teams to get ahead of the constantly changing ad environment of Google Ads.

Creative Developer on the Sales Animation team

 

During my time as a creative developer on the then Google Sales Animation team, we were crucial to sales teams that utilized our team's services. We generated creatives ranging from banners (lots of banners), assets for DoubleClick and Adwords templates and custom builds, such as lightboxes, YouTube brand pages, takeovers and Gmail Sponsored Promotions (now known as Gmail Ads).

 

We worked closely with Gmail Ads product teams to fine tune the format and eventually led to formats such as the Single Image and Promotional Gmail Ads. Implementation of Gmail ads increased 400% during our work with the format.

In 2015, the team shifted it's focus to video, primarily towards supporting new on YouTube formats, specifically Bumper and TrueView.

 

The team developed and conducted sessions that brought top tier advertisers to the YouTube offices to learn more about the features and benefits of the new Bumper format and best practices for optimizing videos for mobile. We shifted support towards video formats. The shift in our service was to help top advertisers with existing videos on YouTube and those that didn't have video creatives to take advantage of YouTube for advertising.

Pandora Premium YouTube Bumper Campaign

 

Worked closely with Pandora's Google sales teams to create a YouTube Bumper campaign featuring Miranda Lambert, The Gorillaz, QuestLove and Big Sean. The campaign utilized internal tools to allow Pandora to create multiple videos per featured artist with multiple headlines to kick off each Bumper. The campaign was to promote Pandora Premium with the "Sounds like You" campaign slogan.

NBA YouTube Bumper Campaigns

 

Without an official YouTube presence, I worked with the NBA sales team to create bumper campaigns for various time lines of the NBA season. Started out experimentally with the 2016-2017 NBA Finals featuring the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. We then created additional campaigns for the 2018 NBA Tip-Off and Christmas Day lineups.

I took over management of the dynamic team at a time when we needed to rebuild. I brought on a great team of creatives and together we started from scratch, improved the builds and created much needed documentation. This team created and developed these custom builds from Google Web Designer (GWD) templates and worked closely with product and GWD teams to stay ahead of the format changes. ABOUT ME

 

Thanks for stopping by. I'm always open to new opportunities, to work collaboratively with creative teams and I love learning something new.

 

I spent a few years as a freelance designer and art director. I worked at design and ad agencies, such as JWT, TMP Worldwide, Brandvoice, but started out at a small shop called Griffixthunkit. In 2006, I was the lead designer of the ICERAIR event that brought ski jumps to the streets of San Francisco and to AT&T Park.

 

For a few years, I taught advanced concepts and art direction at the Academy of Art University, which is where I got my Masters in Advertising Design. I ended up jumping back and forth from San Francisco back to my home area of New York/New Jersey before finding myself married and back in the Bay Area working at companies such as Apple, Electronic Arts and Google.

 

I am a gamer, a YouTuber, an amateur barbecue enthusiast and a dad to two rambunctious boys.

 

What's next for me? Taking a shot as a stand-up comedian. We'll see how that goes.
